VR4Talk

People with aphasia after a stroke have difficulties speaking, understanding, reading and writing. Effective speech therapy requires an intensity of 5-10 hours per week, which is rarely reached in everyday care. VR4Talk develops a system in which people with aphasia train communication in realistic everyday situations, on their own or together in groups. An AI-controlled avatar moderates the conversation, actively involves the participants and uses speech recognition to adapt the difficulty of the training. The project is funded by the Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt (BMFTR).
